Famille originaire de Sologne qui compte au nombre de ses membres les seigneurs d'Autroche, d'Estrées, de Vareux, de la Bouffetière (paroisse de Ligné). Le premier maire d'Orléans sous Henri IV appartenait à cette famille, qui a produit deux présidents au parlement de Metz depuis 1651. Autres personnages de cette famille dignes de mémoire: un trésorier de France en 1673; deux conseillers au parlement de Paris et cinq maîtres des comptes de Paris; un audiencier près la chancellerie de Bretagne en 1739; un général vendéen fait prisonnier au siège de Nantes et fusillé les jours suivants en janvier 1794. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique, l'assurance d'une valeur remarquable. Il est fort difficile, pour ne pas dire impossible, de réunir en faisceau toutes les tiges éparses de cette maison.
