Per il matrimonio di Maria Silipigni con Sebastiano il titolo di barone della terza Dogana di Mare di Catania (già di casa Cianciolo, e riconosciuto con RR. LL. PP. del 17 ag. 1901 in favore del signor Antonio Silipigni, di Tommaso, di Antonino e di Giuseppa Cianciolo) passò nella sudetta famiglia e nel 1918 venne riconosciuto in persona di Sebastiano, di Antonino, di Sebastiano. La famiglia è iscritta nel Libro d'Oro della Nob. Ital. e nell'El. Uff. Nob. Ital. col titolo di barone della Terza Dogana di Mare di Catania in persona di Sebastiano De Luca-Silipigni, di Antonino, di Sebastiano. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi
