Familia muy antigua y muy noble, llamada Lucchese o, más correctamente, Lucchese Palli, que se origina en Adinolfo, hijo de una hermana de Desiderio, famoso Rey de los Lombardos. Este Adinolfo era el príncipe del castillo llamado Tre Palli, del cual dicha familia tomó el apellido de Palli, o Tre Palli, y las armas, y es la misma familia Palli, quien en la ciudad de Lucca gobernó esa famosa república con el título supremo de gran Duque, y por lo tanto llamado Lucchese, como se desprende de un privilegio del rey Carlos de Anjou, el año 1269, el 26 de abril, registrado en la cancillería real del reino de Sicilia en el año 1474, el 23 de septiembre.
