Famille très ancienne et très noble, appelée Lucchese ou, plus correctement, Lucchese Palli, qui est originaire d'Adinolfo, fils d'une sœur de Desiderio, le célèbre roi des Lombards. Cet Adinolfo était prince du château appelé Tre Palli, d'où cette famille a pris le nom de famille de Palli, ou Tre Palli, et les armes, et c'est la même famille Palli, qui dans la ville de Lucca a gouverné cette célèbre république avec le pouvoir suprême titre de grand-duc, et par conséquent appelé Lucchese, comme il ressort d'un privilège du roi Charles d'Anjou, en l'an 1269, le 26 avril, enregistré à la chancellerie royale du royaume de Sicile en l'an 1474, le 23 septembre. On pense, en effet, qu'un Andrea Palli a été le premier à amener la famille en Sicile, où, en mémoire de la patrie dudit Andrea, il s'appelait Lucchese.
