Aus Tirol stammend, wo Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts ein Michele in der Stadt Rens bei Bozen lebte, der von Kaiser Ferdinand II. Mit einem Diplom vom 7. September 1633 mit dem Prädikat Windegg zum ersten Adelsgrad des Heiligen Römischen Reiches erhoben wurde; so kam er zu seinem Sohn Giovanni, Kanzler von Erzherzog Leopold Wilhelm von Österreich, aus dem Reich. Ferdinando II. Bestätigte den Titel mit dem Diplom vom 14. November 1644. Simone, Sohn des oben genannten Giovanni, der einen Prinzen des Fürstenhauses in einem Duell getötet hatte, musste ins Exil und zog nach Salò am Gardasee, um die Familie im zweiten nach Brescia zu verpflanzen Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Tatsächlich wurde sein erstgeborener Giovanni 1669 in dieser Stadt und der zweitgeborene Faustino 1675 geboren. Letzterer ließ sich 1733 in Brescia nieder und heiratete Barbara Alessandri, mit der er sieben Kinder hatte, von denen fünf die kirchliche Karriere machten: Simone, gekleidet
