Originari del Tirolo dove, sulla fine del 500, viveva nel paese di Rens presso Bolzano un Michele, che venne innalzato al primo grado di nobiltà del Sacro Romano Impero dall'Imperatore Ferdinando II con Diploma 7 settembre 1633, col predicato di Windegg; così a suo figlio Giovanni, cancelliere dell'Arciduca Leopoldo Guglielmo d'Austria, venne dall'Imper. Ferdinando II riconfermato il titolo con Diploma 14 novembre 1644. Simone, figlio del predetto Giovanni, avendo ucciso in duello un principe della Casa Regnante, dovette andare in esilio e si trasferì a Salò sul Lago di Garda, trapiantando così la famiglia nel bresciano nella seconda metà del secolo XVII. Difatti il suo primogenito Giovanni, nacque in quella città nel 1669, e il secondogenito Faustino nel 1675; quest'ultimo si stabilì in Brescia nel 1733 e sposò Barbara Alessandri da cui ebbe sette figli dei quali cinque presero la carriera ecclesiastica: Simone, vestì l'abito dei Minori Conventuali col nome
