Originating in Tyrol where, at the end of the 16th century, a Michele lived in the town of Rens near Bolzano, who was raised to the first degree of nobility of the Holy Roman Empire by Emperor Ferdinand II with a Diploma 7 September 1633, with the predicate of Windegg; so to his son Giovanni, chancellor of Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria, he came from the Empire.
