Questa famiglia ebbe origine nell'Umbria da Berardo, Signore della terra di Luco. Da lui discese Sinibaldo, Console di Roma e Conte di L. nell'anno 1186. Questa famiglia fu portata nel Reame da Gionata di L., al quale lo imperatore Federico II nel 1239 diede a custodire Gerardo Piacentino, che era stato preso in ostaggio nella guerra di Lombardia. I discendenti di Gionata si stabilirono in Chieti, Lecce e Barletta, e da quest'ultima città un ramo fu portato in Molfetta un ramo passò a Stabilirsi in Airola. La famiglia de L. ha goduto nobiltà nelle città di Napoli, fuori seggio nel 1475, Chieti, Lecce, Barletta, Molfetta, Capua, Venosa, Amantea ed Aquila, il cui ramo si estinse. Vestì l'Abito di Malta nell'anno 1789. Il ramo ceppo de' De Luca si estinse in una donna, che fu moglie a Trinci, Signore di Foligno, al quale portò in dote la terra di Luco. Il
