Antiga e muito nobre família lombarda, de clara e ancestral virtude, espalhada ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália e do mundo. Conhecido como Lugano, de Lugano, de Lugano ou Lugani, mudou-se daquela cidade, entre os séculos XII e XIV, principalmente para o Piemonte. De fato, já em 1310 alguns núcleos floresceram em Pedemonte de onde se ramificaram para Tortona e Pozzolo Formigaro. Alguns assentamentos também foram registrados no território da Ligúria. De qualquer forma, o ramo mais conspícuo dos Lugano, no decorrer do século XVI, foi então transplantado para Milão e então agregado a essa nobreza. Por outro lado, a família Lugano possuiu inúmeras propriedades, tanto móveis como imobiliárias, em toda a área de Brianza. A clara nobreza do ramo lombardo do Lugano é ainda confirmada pela presença do seu brasão em alguns dos mais valiosos arsenais europeus e nos Arquivos do Estado. E é justamente a
