Antiga e ilustre família lombarda, de clara e ancestral virtude, difundiu-se ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. Originários de Como, os Luraghi são atestados em Como desde pelo menos o século XV, enquanto no século XVII também são contados entre os cidadãos nobres da cidade de Milão. No século XVI foram também os primeiros senhores de Lurago, um senhorio da zona de Limido Comasco, que lhes deve o nome. Por outro lado, esta família, no desenrolar das décadas, conseguiu sempre produzir uma série de homens que tornaram o seu nome célebre, no emprego público, nas profissões liberais, nas carreiras eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Entre estes, sem tirar nada do valor das omissões, recordamos: Luigi Luraghi, conhecido jurista que floresceu no século XVI; Niccolò Luraghi, notário, florescente no século XVI; Agostino Luraghi, prelado, florescente no século XVII; Carlo Luraghi, arquiteto imperial em Praga desde 1648; Antonio (1626-1687)
