Cette illustre maison a donné quatre Empereur à l'Allemagne, trois rois à la Bohême, un à la Hongrie, deux connétables à la France et une duchesse à la Bretagne en la personne de Catherine, troisième femme d'Artur III en 1445. Elle a en outre produit: Sébastien, vicomte de Martigues, lieutenant-général pour le Roi au gouvernement de Bretagne, héritier par sa mère Françoise de Brosse, arriére-petite-fille de Nicole de Blois, des duchés de Penthièvre et d'Étampes, tué au siège de Saint-Jean-d'Angély en 1569, laissant pour fille unique Marie, née à Lamballe, mariée en 1579 à Philippe-Emmanuel de cette maison, duc de Mercœur, gouverneur de Bretagne en 1582; Françoise, fille des précédents, porta toutes ces seigneuries en mariage, l'an 1609, à César, duc de Vendôme, fils naturel d'Henri IV.
