Questa famiglia fu nobile et antica Romana come dimostra la risega nel arme, non ha però memoria più antica del 1484, del quale anno si legge nel Catasto del Salvatore: Francesco Macarozzi. Le precedenti sono smarrite o trascurate come avviene in tutte le famiglie antiche massime le Romane che talvolta non lasciano successore nel nome. Havevano la casa nel rion de S. Eustacchio habitata già dal Cardinale Dertulense mio affine e da lui donata alla Chiesa Nazionale di S. Maria dell'Anima, habitata poscia da Gerardo Meyr nostro nazionale e curiale. È rimasta l'arme sopra la porta di marmo, ma la sepoltura ch'era nella Chiesa di S. Luigi vicina, fu da quei preti o governatori venduta ad altri sotto pretesto che la famiglia sia estinta, errore grandissimo contro l'antichità che se havessimo quella lapide senza fallo se ne caverebbe antichità maggiore.
