Les armes de cette famille se voient sur un acte de nomination, en date du 14 novembre 1740, d'un chapelain de la Trinité fondée dans l'église cathédrale de Sarlat par Louis Bertrand Magran de Leygue, écuyer, seigneur de Veyssière; et sur un testament mystique du 11 août 1712, de messire Antoine, prètre, archidiacre de Marquay où, dans l'écu écartelé décrit, se voit cette dernière pièce, ce qui indique que c'est bien là le blason propre de la famille. Dans une liste de familles nobles du Sarladais sont inscrit ainsi: noble Leygue seigneur de Leygues-Carlux de 1480 à 1608, et noble Bertrand, 20 mai 1657. Cette famille, est-il dit dans une généalogie manuscrite de la maison Touchebeuf, par le comte de Touchebeuf-Clermont, est originaire du Limousin. Guillaume était notaire à Figeac en 1480, protonotaire au Saint-Siège et official de Cahors. Il y eut un évêque vers cette époque nommé Antoine Leyga.
