Les armes de cette maison se voient sur l'ancienne porte (style Renaissance) du château de St-Germain-des-Prés, en Périgord, écartelées de Galard. Le Nobiliaire du Limousin donne les mêmes armes, mais sans l'écartelé, sous le nom de Jean, fils d'autre Jean, chevalier, baron du Borg et Descandillac, et d'Antoinette de Dufort. Le petit-fils de ces derneirs, Bertrand, chevalier de l'Ordre du roi, épousa Jeanne de Fayole de Mellet, et testa le 28 octobre 1567. Un Jean du Maine se maria, le 15 mai 1587, avec Marguerite de Galard-Brassac; ce qui explique les armes gravées sur le château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. L'identité des armoires et les trois alliances qui peut rappeler, nous autorisent à dire qu'il s'agit ici d'une seule et même famille. Armes de la maison: De gueules à une fleur de lys d'or.
