Questa famiglia detta pure di Lamberto e de Amberta è originaria della città di Bologna, e fu portata nel Reame da un Amberto, di parte guelfa, il quale seguì Carlo d'Angiò nella spedizione contro Re Manfredi nel 1266. Egli, non potendo più ritornare in patria, per il dominio che ne aveano i ghibellini, si stabilì nella Città di Bari. Il Polverino nella Descrizione Storica di Cava dice esser questa famiglia di origine francese, venuta in Italia con gli Angioini, e che stabilitasi in Napoli si diramò poi in Cava ed in Bari. Questa famiglia ha goduto nobiltà nelle Città di Bologna, Napoli nel Seggio di Fontanola, Cava, Milano, Rimini, Lucca, Lodi, Bari, Nocera, Aversa, Stilo ed in Sicilia. Ha vestito l'abito di Malta nel 1597 e trovasi attualmente ascritta al Registro delle Piazze Chiuse. Nei L. si sono estinte; la famiglia de Corticiis nobile di Bari, un ramo della famiglia
