E' questa una delle quattro famiglie militari i Bene, che ebbe larghe diramazioni. Gerardino e Stefano, fratelli, ebbero concessione d'arma il 10 marzo 1643, e Pietro Antonio, figlio di Gerardino, che fu avvocato dei poveri e senatore di Piemonte (1664), consegnò l'arma il 7 luglio 1687. Fece costui acquisto da Emilio Oliviero di porzioni di Costigliole. Ebbe numerosa discendenza e ottenne l'immunità di 12 figli il 17 dicembre 1681. Giovanni Amedeo, continuò la linea ed ebbe, fra gli altri, Giuseppe Antonio, che risulta nel titolario del 1778. Il figlio suo, Francesco Domenico, ottenne l'immunità di 12 figli il 24 febbraio 1786. Da lui nacque, fra gli altri, Carlo Benedetto che giurò coi nobili nel 1822. E' costui lo stipite dei quattro rami in cui è divisa questa famiglia.
