Questa famiglia fu ascritta alla nobiltà di Velletri in persona di Costantino nell'anno 1864. Si crede derivata dalla stirpe dei Compagnoni. Benvenuto di Podone, uno dei capi della fazione ghibellina nel 1225, incominciò a chiamarsi de' Panici. Francesco cavaliere dei Santi Maurizio Lazaro fu gran priore della Marca Trivigiana per la sua religione. Amico, dopo essere stato Vescovo di Sarsina, passò alla sede di Recanati e Loreto nel 1634, avendo investito, mentre reggeva la prima chiesa, il proprio nipote Lodovico e suoi discendenti della giurisdizione di Falcino e della Petrella col titolo di conte. Giulio Cesare di Orazio vestì l'abito dell'Ordine di Santo Stefano di Toscana nel 1624. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Roma. Altro ramo.
