Venne questa famiglia da Fiorenza, città chiarissima d'Italia, in Sicilia nel reggimento del Rè Federico secondo; da chi Pietro fù eletto Senatore di Palermo nel 1334, 1339, 1344, e 1348, il cui figlio Olivo Mainardi, ouer Menardi, fù eletto Algozirio reale, carico c'hoggi è chiamato Capitan d'arme di campagna, e fermatosi in Catania procreò Henrico, Martino, Filippo, e Nicolò. Henrico si casò nella medesima città di Catania con Agata Ricciari. Martino hebbe la Castellania di Vizzini. Filippo si casò in Castrogiovanni con Giovanna Petruso, e Nicolò nella città di Castronuovo, però in tutte queste Città, fiorì nobilmente la famiglia Menardi, come anche in Polizzi. Dal prenarrato Henrico nè pervenne Paolo Barone del feudo del Barchino, che si casò nella città di Caltagirone, perloche si fermò in quella, e procreò Leonardo, che nel 1452 fù Sindaco, ed Ambasciadore della Città al Rè Alfonzo, e' suoi figli Nicolò, ed Henrico furono promssi
