Antigua y noble familia Emilian con residencia en Módena que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones del norte. A Jerome fue alcalde de Reggio-Emilia en 1543. En los recuerdos de tiempos pasados, se pueden leer algunas variantes de este apellido, debido a las causas habituales de la pronunciación dialectal y la forma de interpretar los apellidos en la escritura. El escudo de armas de la familia Marastoni es: D'azzurro, a la montaña verde, moviéndose desde la punta, a cuyas copas laterales están enraizadas dos troncos de árboles verdes con injertos y hojas de los mismos; coronado en la cabeza por un cometa rojo. Dicha montaña está cargada en el centro por una planta con tres amplias hojas verdes.

D'azzurro, alla montagna di verde, movente dalla punta, alle cui sommità laterali sono radicati due tronchi d'albero di verde con innesti e foglie dello stesso; sormontata in capo da una cometa di rosso. La detta montagna è caricata nel centro da una pianta di tre foglie larghe di verde.
