Originaria di Napoli, vanta parecchi capitani giustizieri, fra' quali Giovanni nel 1589, Giuseppe nel 1599, Antonio nel 1617 e 1622. Al dir di Araldo L., che nel suo Almanacco Nobiliare del Napoletano, stampato in Napoli da A. Trani, nel 1878-89 - Vol. 12 in 16°, riporta le notizie riguardanti questa illustre casata. Quanto sia stata nobile questa famiglia ne' Regni di Napoli, nè son testimonio tutti coloro, c'hanno scritto delle famiglie nobili, de' medesimi Regni; è celebre per molt'huomini illustri di lettere, e d'armi, che lei have havuto, e l'antico grado. Nel tempo del Reggimento Normanno, e Svevo, puoche famiglie nobili s'annoverano del Regno di Sicilia, mercè che se non tutte, ma la maggior parte delle Terre, e feudi Baronali erano sotto il dominio Regio, e secondo l'historia del Vescovo Fra Simone di Leontino, non si leggono altro, si non che tra le Baronale questa famiglia.
