Familia poderosa que en 1227, después de la muerte de Mastino della Scala, tuvo una gran parte en la elección de su hermano Alberto como capitán del pueblo veronés. En 1584 Domenico obtuvo la agregación al noble Consejo de Verona; un Marcegaglia fue maestro de Antonio della Scala. El escudo de armas de la familia Marcegaglia es: división azul, con una estrella de oro y verde completo, con una banda ondulada, una división ondulada de rojo sobre plata cruzada en la partición. Alias: D'azzurro, con la banda con volantes, dividida en plata sobre rojo, y acompañada en la cabeza por una estrella dorada.
