Famiglia Siciliana assai antica e nobile, originaria della Spagna, nel corso dei secoli si propagò in diverse regioni d'Italia e vi fù accolta nelle importanti cariche della città dove ebbe dimora. Ho ritrovato in alcune Città di Sicilia assai chiara d'antica nobiltà la famiglia Marco In Palermo Simone fù Baglijo, over Pretore nel 1308, e 1314, e Pietro nel 1332. In Messina fiorì Pietro Marco il quale per alcuni servigi militari hebbe alcuni doni del Rè Lodovico, parimente del Rè Federico secondo, per il quale oprò il suo valore per redurre la sua patria Messina alla regia devotione, ciò si vede in un Privilegio concesso del medesimo Rè nel 1366. Il figlio Matteo s'impiegò a' serviggi del Rè Martino, e n'ebbe le sue ricompense, fù egli molto erudito, ed eloquente; perlochè fù destinato della città di Messina Ambasciatore con l'Abbate di San Placido al Rè Giovanni, ed al Rè Ferdinando da'
