Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia di Fano, la quale è, però, originaria di Gubbio. Ivi se ne memoria fin dal 950 con Pier Maria. Nel 1280, un Marcolino, perché ghibellino, fu cacciato con tutta la sua discendenza, e poco dopo nella persona di suo figlio Ranieri-Peruzzo e figli, venne a stabilirsi a Fano, dove ben presto furono ammessi al Nobile Consiglio e perciò tra i Nobili Fanesi. Lenzolo (1367) fu più volte ambasciatore per i Malatesta Signori di Fano; Pietro, 1420, consigliere. Giovanni, 1444, insigne teologo e poi vescovo di Nocera. Francesco, 1470, Gonfaloniere e Capitano delle truppe; insieme al fratello Galeotto fondarono il convento di S. Maria fuori le Mura. Matteo, 1450, dottore in legge e consigliere. Ebbe egli due figli: Ludovico e Matteo. il ramo primogenito portò l'antico stemma e cioè il 2° sopra descritto. Ebbe personaggi illustri, gonfalonieri, dottori in legge e il 14 agosto 1671 un cavaliere
