Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia di Fano, detta Marcolini o Marcolin, la quale è, però, originaria di Gubbio. Ivi se ne memoria fin dal 950 con Pier Maria. Nel 1280, un Marcolino, poiché, ghibellino, fu cacciato con tutta la sua discendenza, e, poco dopo, nella persona di suo figlio Ranieri-Peruzzo e figli, venne a stabilirsi a Fano, dove ben presto furono ammessi al Nobile Consiglio e perciò tra i Nobili Fanesi. Lenzolo (1367) fu più volte ambasciatore per i Malatesta Signori di Fano; Pietro, 1420, consigliere. Giovanni, fiorente nel 1444, fu insigne teologo e poi vescovo di Nocera. Francesco, fiorente 1470, fu Gonfaloniere e Capitano delle truppe; insieme al fratello Galeotto fondarono il convento di S. Maria fuori le Mura.
