Antica famiglia di Montalto Marche, che trovasi annoverata tra le nobili fin da secolo XVI e che poi si trasferì a Loro Piceno. Francesco, 1724 celebre capitano, sposò la nobile Anna Mariangeli di Montelupone che volle per contratto nuziale, che il marito aggiungesse il suo cognome e ne inquartasse lo stemma anche nei discendenti. Da lui ne venne Alessandro (1707-1808) da cui Giuseppe (1780-1810) il quale ebbe due figli maschi: Cesare (n. 1805), primogenito, fra altri ebbe Alessandro (1830, deceduto 1910) che fu il padre degli attuali rappresentanti del ramo primogenito; e Francesco (1811, dec. 1901) secondogenito e capo del ramo secondogenito oggi diviso in due rami. Fu egli celebre avvocato, professore di diritto penale nell'Università di Macerata, fervente patriota, per cui nel 1860 il Governo Nazionale lo volle consigliere di Prefettura e lo delegò alla Prefettura di Napoli, Roma, Genova.
