Famiglia di antichissima origine, che à dato alla patria un Vescovo nella persona di Gherardo il quale occupò quella sede nel 1165. Antonio, nel 1275, fu ascritto al collegio dei giudici. Estinta nel 1606 nella persona di Bartolomeo che lasciò erede delle sue sostanze un Giacomo Ceriolo. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Treviso. Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio.
