Antigua y muy noble familia Campania, con residencia en la ciudad de Capua, donde se contaba entre las principales familias de la nobleza antigua, que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El núcleo original de la familia, en el siglo XV, se mudó a vivir a Sicilia. Según lo que se nos transmite, el primer miembro ilustre en Sicilia fue Riccardo, creado Capitán de Randazzo por el Rey Alfonso, en 1416.
