Antigua y muy noble familia Campania, con residencia en la ciudad de Capua, donde se contaba entre las principales familias de la nobleza antigua, que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El núcleo original de la familia, en el siglo XV, se mudó a vivir a Sicilia. Según lo que se nos transmite, el primer miembro ilustre en Sicilia fue Riccardo, creado Capitán de Randazzo por el Rey Alfonso, en 1416. Su hijo Manfredo, después de muchos servicios al mismo Rey, tuvo el mismo cargo en 1433 y luego fue ascendido. en la oficina pública de Tabellione.
