Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Rolland, croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); mais nous ne savons à quelle famille Marc'hec il appartenait. Celle-ci a produit: Geoffroi, évêque de Cornouaille mort en 1383; Guillaume, vivant en 1434, marié: à Olive de Rosmar; à Isabeau Taillart. Du premier lit: Nicolas, époux d'Isabeau le Roux père et mère d'Alain, sénéchal de Rennes, conseiller aux Grands-Jours en 1498, signataire du traité de mariage d'Anne de Bretagne et de Louis XII en 1499, marié à Luce de Bourgneuf, auteurs des seigneurs de la Martinière et de Montbarot, dont: Alain, président aux comptes en 1524; Pierre, conseiller aux Grands-Jours, puis au parlement en 1554, père de René, gouverneur de Rennes en 1583, chevalier de l'ordre en 1599. Du deuxième lit: Rolland, époux de N. Gallais, qui ont continué la filiation des branches de l'évêché de Tréguier. La branche de Montbarot fondue dans la Chapelle de la Roche-Giffart.
