Originaria di Sprugnano nel Casentino, ottenne il priorato nella persona di Antonio di Bernardo di Angelo nel 1520. Esaù di Angelo commissario di guerra in Casentino nel 1425, ed Agnolo suo figlio gli successe nella stessa carica. Bernardo di Esaù Vescovo di Cesena nel XIV secolo. Fra Angiolo di Cosimo, Cav. di Malta si segnalò per valore nella battagllia di Lepanto nel 1574. Jacopo discepolo ed amico intimo del Galileo che accolse nella sua vita di Arcetri ove il grand'uomo morì. Estinta nel 1762 nella persona di Bernardo. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio. Quel che però di certo habbiamo, è che la casata per la loro antichità, e splendore, e per virtù militare, carrichi così laicali,
