Originaria di Germania, trapiantata in Italia verso la metà del XIV secolo da un Giovanni, il quale avendo portato con sè molti danari fece acquisto di molti beni in Possagno sotto Asolo ed in Valdobiadene, e perchè aveva fissato la sua abitazione in Martignago, da questo luogo trasse il suo cognome che trasmise a' suoi discendenti. Bianchino, di lui figlio, per essersi valorosamente adoperato in difesa del castello delle Coste contro le genti di Valmarino, meritò col padre, e con Bartolomeo, Taddeo e Rambaldo, suoi fratelli e loro discendenti di essere dichiarati nobili rusticani. Girolamo provveditore e governatore delle macchine da guerra per S. M. Cesarca nel 1511. Fu ascritta al Consiglio nobile di Treviso nel 1410, e fu confermata nella sua nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 5 Mag. 1820.
