Originaire d'Allemagne, transplanté en Italie au milieu du XIVe siècle par un Giovanni, qui ayant apporté avec lui beaucoup d'argent, fit l'achat de nombreuses propriétés à Possagno sous Asolo et à Valdobiadene, et parce qu'il avait établi sa maison à Martignago , de cet endroit il a pris son nom de famille qu'il a transmis à ses descendants. Bianchino, son fils, pour avoir travaillé vaillamment à la défense du château de la Coste contre les habitants de Valmarino, mérita avec son père, et avec Bartolomeo, Taddeo et Rambaldo, ses frères et leurs descendants d'être déclaré noble rusticani. Girolamo provveditore et gouverneur des machines de guerre pour SM Cesarca en 1511. Elle fut attribuée au Conseil Noble de Trévise en 1410 et fut confirmée dans sa noblesse par résolution souveraine le 5 mai 1820.
