Vem de Messer Marzuppino di Mino, que em 1244 era o chefe da facção Guelph em casa. Gregorio di Domenico em 1389 professor de direito na Universidade de Bolonha, então secretário. de Carlos VI, rei da França, que em 1396 o enviou para governar a cidade de Gênova. Retornando da França, ele fixou seu domicílio em Florença, cuja cidadania foi atribuída em 1431. Carlo, seu filho, foi eleito secretário da República. Cornelius, filho do anterior, e Cristoforo, seu irmão, eram gonfaloniers da empresa, o primeiro em 1471 e o outro em 1506. O último desta casa era Girolamo del Cav. Lorenzo, que morreu octogenário em 1720. Era o costume das famílias mais antigas, que após a queda do Império Romano, no dilúvio de Barbari, tendo sobrenomes, estudos e outras coisas bonitas perdidas e deixadas apenas com nomes simples , para desenhar novamente seus sobrenomes e sua linhagem de nomes próprios
