Antica e nobile famiglia originaria del territorio di Forlì propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia ove si leggono alcune variazioni cognominali, dovute prevalentemente alle inflessioni dialettali, quali Maserini in Lombardia o Maserin in Veneto. Un pellegrino fu prelato esimio della Curia romana, editore di Rota sotto il pontificato di Clemente XI, e segretario della congregazione Acque e Confini; un Girolamo fu filosofo e astronomo nunzio del Re d'Ungheria nel 1505; Angelo e Baldassarre furono cavalieri di Santo Stefano nel XVIII secolo. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia friulana; il capostipite di questa famiglia udinese è un maestro Leonardo del Maxser, pellicciaio, abitante in Mercatovecchio, già morto nel 1477, il quale nei documenti è detto figlio di Domenico di S.Daniele del Friuli. Il di lui figlio Bartolomeo pellicciaio ed orefice, si mise a negoziare anche in vino. Accumulata una buona sostanza, sposò la nobile Maddalena cavalcanti, del ramo udinese
