Giovanni Matrancha ò Matracchia Epiroto servì molt'anni con l'arte militare, il Rè Martino dal quale in ricompenza de' suoi serviggi, hebbe il territorio di Morgana non lunge Calascibetta, e l'ufficio di Provisore de' Regij fabrici della Città di Castrogiovanni. Per il che nel 1391, si casò nella medesma Città con Giacopina di Leto nobile donzella, con la quale procreò Giacomo, e Pietro, ch'ambedue acquistarono un grosso tenitorio chiamato il Marcato di Mulegi, lasciatogli d'Antonio d'Ansisa loro materno parente del 1496 conforme si legge nel testamento del medesmo Antonio negl'atti di notar Lorenzo di Noto in detto anno; vissero questi due fratelli assai ricchi particularmente Giacomo, che comprò il feudo di Mantica, ed altri beni, hebbe per moglie Laurella Pitruso nobile Ennese, e nel suo sepolcro vi puose il supradetto Epitafio, e le sue antiche arme; che sono un braccio d'argento, che mostra di ferire una mezza Luna d'argento in campo
