Apellido andaluz, de procedencia catalana. Don José Luis M. y Uribe, nació en Granada el 3 de febrero de 1860 y murió en La Laguna (Tenerife) el 9 de mayo de 1922. Era hijo de Don José María M. y Marra, Caballero de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén y Comendador de la de Carlos III. Don José Luis M., Caballero de la Orden del Santo Sepulcro, Inspector de Hacienda en Filipinas, contrajo matrimonio en Manila el 16 de febrero de 1887 con Doña María del Pino Verdugo y Bartlett, nacida en Santa Cruz de Tenerife el 20 de enero de 1864. De este enlace nacieron María del Rosario M. y Verdugo, el 4 de enero de 1889, en Manila, y Don José Luis M. y Verdugo, Caballero Cofrade de San Juan Evangelista, Juez Municipal de La Laguna en 1924 y Diputado provincial. Nació en Madrid el 23 de mayo de 1891 y contrajo matrimonio en Taganana (Tenerife), el 21 de junio de 1926, con Doña Adele Morín y López. Fueron sus hijos: Doña María Luisa M. Morín y Verdugo nacida el 27 de marzo de 1927, y Don José Luis M. Morín y Verdugo, nacido el 4 de noviembre de 1930, en San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Licenciado en Derecho. Fue Alcalde del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de La Laguna.
