This family takes its origins from Villafranca di Nizza, and was ennobled in the person of Benedetto on 25 July 1649 "for having always lived honorably and nobly, as did his ancestors". The son of this was Antonio, who obtained confirmation and interim of the ennoblement on 16 June 1676. From him was born Carlo Benedetto, father of Carlo Luigi, who was brigadier general in 1792 and commander of the fort of Villafranca. It was his sons Gaetano and Francesco, from whom the comital line proceeds. Gaetano was a lieutenant general and followed the Savoy court in Sardinia. From him were born Francesco and Augusto, who was secretary in the Gabelle, and opted for Italian nationality in 1860. Francesco, lieutenant general, was created count on October 26, 1830.
