Ancienne et très noble famille de Chieri, dont les premiers souvenirs remontent à un Giacomo, florissant en 1263, qui passa résider à Asti, à Casale et à Rivoli. D'après ce que rapporte Antonio Manno, dans son précieux « Blasonarium subalpin », les Masset d'Yverdun (Vaud), seigneurs d'Orges, descendraient précisément de la branche Mazzetti qui passait à Rivoli. Dans tous les cas, la famille est divisée en plusieurs lignées. Celle connue sous le nom de Saluggia, à laquelle appartenait Giovanni del fu Domenico qui, en 1440, acheta une partie de Saluggia aux Montiglio et, à Andreetta Tara, épouse de Pietro Maria Isnardi, partie de Frinco, avec investiture du duc de Milan (1442 ). Dans des temps moins reculés, nous nous souvenons de Paolo Battista Francesco Michele Mattia (Turin, S.Dalmazzo, 21 septembre 1770 - Turin, S. Carlo, 10 décembre 1830), docteur en droit (1789, 15 avril), décurion (1792), capitaine en les volontaires

Di nero, alle tre mazze d'argento. Lo scudo cimato da un cardo di 3 rami inserito in un anello d'oro, il tutto cimato da una corona di marchese sostenente una fenice d'argento sulla sua immortalità di rosso. Sostegni: due liocorni con i corni legati da un nastro di rosso all'anello che cingie la pianta di cardo; ciascun liocorno reca sulla criniera un nastro svolazzante con il motto "ME TIENT" che allude all'anello e significa mi tiene, cioè mi impegno per un dato fine. Sopra il cardo un altro nastro con il motto "SOUVENIR M'EN DOIT" che signofica mi si dovrà ricordare.
