Antichissima famiglia di Albenga, nei cui personaggi Pietro, Cazola, Vivaldo, Bartolomeo e Benabò l'imperatore Enrico VII rinnovava addì 6 giugno 1311 l'investitura della castellania di Rivernale o Rivernaro, già possedura da' loro avi. Questo feudo imperiale, costituito dalle terre di Arnasco, Cénesi, Menosio e Bezzo, veniva regolato nelle successioni col nome di Arnasco in pro di tutti i maschi, giusta il diritto longobardo. Al 1620 (5 marzo) l'imperatore Ferdinando II, essendosi tutte le parti del feudo riunite, per la confisca al ribelle Domenico (26 marzo 1604) e rivendita ai nipoti collaterali Francesco e Ugo (23 ottobre 1613) confermata (16 agosto 1608 e 4 giugno 1613), e per la morte di detto Francesco, nella persona del fratello di costui Ugo, volle unificare tutto il feudo in testa di detto Ugo e discendenti in linea di primogenitura.
