Antica ed illustre famiglia pisana, di chiara e provata nobiltà. Lorenzo e Raniero, di Niccolò, di Ranieri, ricchi possidenti e banchieri pisani, interessati anche in diverse accomandite con sede a Livorno, chiesero, infatti, per sè e discendenti l'ascrizione alla nobiltà pisana, giustificandola col godimento del priorato al quale erano stati assunti, il primo, nel 1738 e, il secondo, nel 1748. La loro richiesta trovò pieno accoglimento, nel decreto della Reale Deputazione sopra la nobiltà e cittadinanza in Toscana, del 9 settembre 1754. Inoltre, tal casato, nel XVIII secolo, incaricò l'architetto Silvestro Donati di costruire, in Crespina, l'oggi denominata Villa Ott, la quale si articola su tre livelli e ha due entrate simmetriche posizionate ai lati, di cui una finta, mentre al centro spicca lo stemma gentilizio.
