Cette famille est bien véritablement originaire de Bretagne où elle était établie depuis plusieurs siècles. On la retrouve à différentes époques, en divers localités et il y a eu nombreux personnages illustres de ce nom. On signale les personnages dignes de mémoire: Riou, âgé en 1410, d'environ soixante-deux ans, entendu dans l'enquête sur les droits du vicomte de Léon en Cornouaille; Yves, prête serment au duc entre les nobles de Tréguier en 1437. La branche aînée fondue dès 1400 dans Saliou, d'où la vicomté de cette maison a été possédée successivement par les Perrien, le Moyne, la Bourdonnaye et Camus. La dernière branche fondue à la fin du XVIII siècle dan Kerléan. On remarque (dès le XIIIème siècle) des alliances importantes avec des familles nobles en Bretagne et autres régions françaises.
