I Memo, ora Memmi o Memmo, anticamente detti Monegari, si trovano a Venezia nei primi tempi della sua fondazione, ed uno di essi fu degli elettori del primo doge. Domenico Monegario fu doge dell'anno 756 al 764; Pietro (888-912) e Tribuno (979-991) ebbero in seguito la medesima dignità. Questa famiglia diede insigne uomini nella politica, nella amministrazione e nella prelatura. Tribuno Memo, figlio di Andrea, fu il primo che, lasciato l'antico cognome, fu ricchissimo, di grande e fu autorità e fu eletto doge di Venezia nel 979. Domenico, di Pietro, da S. Marculia, senatore nel 1177 fu uno dei sopracomiti di galea nell'armata condotta dal doge Sebastiano Ziani, in favore di Papa Alessandro III, contro Ottone, figlio dell'imperatore Federico I, il quale fu fatto prigioniero dai veneti.
