Giorgio Menabrea (deceduto 1785), figlio di un pastore di Valtournanche, fu luogotenente di milizie (1745) del ducato di Aosta. Ebbe in seguito l'ufficio del ducato di luogotenente giudice. Fu suo figlio Ottavio, il quale trasferì la sua residenza a Chambèry. Da lui nacquero Leone e Federico (10 aprile 1804, dec. 24 maggio 1857). Leone percorse la carriera giudiziaria, e nel 1851 era consigliere d'appello a Chambèry. Fu addetto, come consigliere, alla legazione straordinaria a Milano per la pace del 1849. Fu letterato di storico di pregio, segretario dell'Accademia di Savoia, e membro della R. Deputazione di Storia Patria (1852). Col fratello Federico fu nobilitato il 30 dicembre 1843. Federico fu nobilitato il 30 dicembre 1843. Federico (ottobre 1809, dec. 26 maggio 1896) ingegnere, fu chiamato a far parte del genio militare come tenente, e insegnò matematica ed arte militare all'Accademia Militare e costruzione nella Università.
