Uma antiga crônica das famílias de Castelfranco Veneto, bem como a Crollalanza em seu "Dicionário Histórico-Blasonic das nobres e notáveis famílias italianas", não especifica se a família Meneghini é originária de Lucca ou Savoy. Novamente, de acordo com Crollalanza, a família transplantou para Castelfranco Veneto no século XIV. Originalmente chamado Savoini, e mais tarde também Cerdoni, Meneghini começou a ser conhecido por um deles chamado Meneghino. Os membros desta família eram senhores de Godego na área de Treviso. Andrea, em 1509, salvou a terra natal do massacre ordenado pelo imperador Maximiliano; outro Andrea foi criado cavaleiro por Henrique III rei da França, quando em 1574 ele passou por Castelfranco, indo para Veneza. Além disso, essa família aparece entre os oblatoros em 1379 na República de Veneza, durante a guerra de Chioggia.
