Alte und sehr edle sizilianische Familie, die aus Corleone (Palermo) stammt, sich aber auch in Ragusa und Scicli verzweigt, von klarer und überlieferter Tugend, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens, aber auch Amerikas verbreitet hat. Im 16. Jahrhundert in Ragusa war die Familie mit der Adelsfamilie Cocuzza verwandt. Es besaß auch die Baronie Pantano, die wir am 22. August 1746 mit einer Felicia ausgestattet sehen. In Palermo steht noch immer der gleichnamige Adelspalast, der 1766 von Merendino an den Architekten Andrea Giganti in Auftrag gegeben wurde, aber die Werke Sie begannen erst 1785, als der Architekt G. Venanzio Marvuglia das ursprüngliche Projekt von A. Giganti modifizierte, mit dem Bau des Palastes begann und dessen Arbeiten leitete. Der klare Adel der Familie wird weiter durch seine Präsenz in dem wertvollen Werk "Das historisch-Wappen-Wörterbuch der ausgestorbenen und blühenden italienischen und bemerkenswerten italienischen Familien" des 1886 in Pisa veröffentlichten Genealogen
