Cette famille est bien véritablement originaire de Bretagne où elle était établie depuis plusieurs siècles. On la retrouve à différentes époques, en divers localités et il y a eu nombreux personnages illustres de ce nom. On signale les personnages dignes de mémoire: Maurice, vivant en 1481, épouse Marie de Kercabin, dont Nicolas, procureur de Lannion, marié en 1513 à Catherine de Kermellec; Guillaume, vivant en 1543, époux de Marguerite Hémery, qui a continué la filiation. Un écuyer de la petite écurie du Roi, gouverneur de Lannion en 1660; un docteur en Sorbonne, aumônier du Roi, connu sous le nom de seigneur de Saint-André, l'un des fondateurs des missions étrangères mort en 1668; deux pages du Roi en 1720 et 1748. On remarque (dès le XIIIème siècle) des alliances importantes avec des familles nobles en Bretagne et autres régions françaises.
