Ancient and very noble Tuscan family, with residence in the city of Florence, Santo Spirito district, Scala gonfalon, known as Messeri, Messere or Messera, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy and Europe. The origin of this cognomination, to say the least of authoritative genealogists, should be sought in the term "messere", a term with which people who occupied eminent positions such as notaries, judges and doctors or wealthy landowners were identified in late medieval times. On the other hand, this family, in the unfolding of its luster, has always managed to produce a series of men who have made its name famous, in public employment, in liberal and ecclesiastical professions and in military service.
