Antica famiglia ascritta fino dal 1557 al nobile Consiglio di Feltre. Per decreto del senato veneto 4 aprile 1705, Gasparo, Antonio Maria di Lucio, e Lucio Maria, di Gasparo, ebbero la concessione del titolo comitale trasmissibile ai maschi per l'antica nobiltà della famiglia, per meriti personali verso la patria e per aver infeudata una loro possessione di campi 110 posta in Canale, Regola di Anzù. Per terminazione 19 maggio 1705 dei Provveditori sopra feudi, i suddetti furono iscritti nall'A. L. T. col titolo di conte. Lucio Mario Pietro, di Gaetano, ebbe la conferma della nobiltà con S. R. A. 6 maggio 1821. Che i membri della famiglia Mezzan siano noncuranti delle cose volgari, ripromettendosi dalle sole loro energie la dovuta ricompensa, lo provano i documenti fino ad oggi conosciuti come il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico del commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza che ne ha raccolte le tracce lasciate dalla famiglia in quelle
