Antica famiglia, decorata del titolo di marchese con R. D. 22 maggio 1854 in persona di Gaspare Miane di Catanzaro, morto senza lasciare discendenza. Riconosciuta nella loro secondogenita, con D. M. 14 luglio 1882 nel titolo di nobile dei marchesi in persona di Carlo Mariano, di Raffaele, n. in Catanzaro 11 settembre 1831, dec. 29 febbraio 1888. La famiglia è iscritta nell'El. Uff. Ital. col titolo di nobile dei marchesi. Altra famiglia proveniente dalla Polcevera. Oberto Miane fu anziano nel 1373; Bertone Miane ebbe la stessa carica nel 1427. Furono ascritti nei De Franchi nel 1528. Alzò per arma: Troncato: al primo d'argento alla croce di Calvario di nero uscente dalla partizione, accompagnata da due pianticelle di giunco al naturale nodrite nella base della croce e e divergenti; al secondo d'azzurro a tre stelle (6) d'oro.
