Lokalen Berichten zufolge hatte die Familie ihren Ursprung in Vicenza, woher die Kinder von Felice Miari stammen würden, die im elften Jahrhundert die Belluno-Linie hervorbrachten. Die erste Bescheinigung des Familiennamens bezieht sich auf Andrea da Miaro, Kapitän von Feltre im Jahr 1110. Die genealogische Geschichte der Adelsfamilie von Belluno ist äußerst komplex: Bereits 1379 war sie Teil des Adelsrates von Belluno; 1412 hatte es die Pfalz und angesichts dieser Ehre verlieh der venezianische Senat der Familie 1744 den Titel eines Grafen. Die Familie war Teil des Malteserordens und Antonio war Gerichtsvollzieher in diesem Orden und sein Botschafter in Wien. Die Familie hatte am 19. November 1820 und am 13. April 1829 die Adelsbestätigung der SRA in den Personen von: Giovanni Andrea di Matteo und Fulcio und Antonio Felice.
