Nobile famiglia, che si vuole originaria di Firenze e della stessa stirpe dei Guidalotti, e che si dice passata in Sicilia nel sec. XIV, in persona di un Nicolò. Godette nobiltà in Palermo. Un Filippo, come marito di Elisabetta Ventimiglia, fu barone di Montemaggire per investitura del 24 ott. 1526; un Mariano, figlio di Filippo Migliacca, fu investito di Montemaggiore il 28 genn. 1531 e, come marito di Fiammetta Paruta, fu barone di Sala; un Gerardo, figlio di Mariano, fu investito di Montemaggire il 4 genn. 1540 e il 21 giugno 1556, sposò Francesca D'Agostino, di Pietro maestro razionale del Regno e fu padre di Mariano, investito della baronia di Montemaggiore l'1 agosto 1557, letterato e poeta lodato dal Di Giovanni e dal Mongitore, strenuo cavaliere soccorse l'isola di Malta contro i Turchi nel 1565, prese parte alla battaglia di Lepanto, fu capitano di duecento cavalleggeri sotto il viceré duca
